What actually happens when you extract an acapella
An acapella is the vocal track isolated from everything else in a mix: no drums, no bass, no instruments underneath it. A finished song is one mixed file, every instrument and voice summed together into a single waveform. Pulling a clean acapella out of that means separating what a human voice sounds like from everything layered underneath it, without the odd, hollow sound older tools were known for.
The alternative worth knowing about is phase cancellation, the old "invert one channel and sum to mono" karaoke trick. It cannot produce a real acapella. It kills anything panned to the centre of the mix, which includes the kick and bass along with the vocal. It also collapses the whole track to mono in the process. What comes out is not a clean, usable acapella. It is a hole where the centre of the mix used to be.
Two stems is its own separation pass, not a shortcut
The extractor runs the two stem configuration of Sonura Split to produce vocals and instrumental. The six stem separation (vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, other) runs a different configuration. Getting a clean two stem acapella is not a lighter version of the full job. It is built by separating the sources with the configuration tuned for that job, then summing everything except the vocal back into one instrumental file.

Is an acapella extractor the same thing as a vocal remover?
Yes, same tool, described from opposite directions. "Vocal remover" describes removing the vocal to get an instrumental. "Acapella extractor" describes keeping the vocal and discarding everything else. Sonura produces both from the same separation pass.
Can I get the instrumental too?
Yes, from the same pass. The two stem split writes out the acapella and the instrumental together, so you download whichever you need, or both. The vocal remover is the same run described from the instrumental side.
Will the acapella have any of the instrumental bleeding through?
Some bleed is possible on any separation tool, particularly on vocals that sit very close in frequency to another instrument. Sonura's separator is built to keep this to a minimum, producing noticeably less bleed than older separation tools.
Can I extract an acapella from a low-quality MP3?
Yes, though separation quality depends partly on the source recording. A cleaner, higher-bitrate source generally extracts a cleaner acapella.
Do I need production experience to do this?
